Beating Work At Home De-Motivators
With this, below are some motivational tips that can help you fight off apathy and laziness when you are working at home:
Your job pays the rent and all other bills.
Working at home is just like having a normal job in a corporate setup, of course minus the benefits that an employee can get from a privately owned company. So whenever the thought of working at home somehow depresses you or de-motivates you, shrug it off by thinking that it is WORK and it pays off your rent and other house bills. In fact, being able to work in a place that is loaded with distractions is not an easy thing to do, since you also have to attend to house chores and the kids.
Follow a realistic morning routine or schedule.
To get your morning started, it is best to come up with a morning routine that is realistic and do-able. List down the things you need to do first before you begin work. You may need to do a number of chores first or run some errands before you can start off with your work for the day. After attending to all home chores and after bringing the kids to school, you can then begin with your work at home duties. While this setup can be stressful in the beginning, you will surely adapt to it in no time.
Look for more income source.
If one freelance racket is not enough to make ends meet, do not let this de-motivate you. Instead of wearing yourself out worrying about this problem, what you can do is to look for other sources of income. If your current freelance work is web writing, look for other freelance offers of the same field. This way, it will be easier for you to add to your work load if you are already familiar with requirements and such that it requires.
Chill and take a break.
Repetitive work can become boring, especially if you are working at home and you have no peers or colleagues to chat or communicate with personally. To beat boredom out of your system, what you need to do is to chill and take a break. After working for a few hours, turn off the monitor of your PC and close your eyes. Use your break time to eat quick snacks or to enjoy a few minutes in the couch. However, avoid heading straight to the bedroom for a quick nap, for tendency is you can fall asleep, thus, waking up late and have no time left to finish off your freelance work.
