Top 7 Reasons Why You Need A Brain Dump For Your Strategic Plan To Your Time Management
Information is doubling at warp speed. Computers help to capture that information. Humans have their own computer, the human brain. This approximately 3 pound mass of gray matter works like a computer, but unlike a computer its processing speed cannot be changed.
Small business owners to business coaches need a depository or dump for new thoughts, new strategies and new ideas from their brains as they proceed through their day. This catchall or brain dump would hold these ideas until there is time to sort through all of them, discard the ones that currently may not be effective, retain the ones that show immediate benefit and store the discard ones for another time.
For some individuals, this brain dump may be their PDA or paper time management systems. After trying many different solutions, I have been working with a journal specifically for all my brain dumps. The first journal is entitled “You Receive What You Believe” Volume 1 beginning March 23, 2007. Shortly, I will need another one.
Each page has a date and holds for me a variety of thoughts including just to name a few:
New article titles for my Internet marketing strategy of article writing
Quotations to remember
Marketing ideas
Phone calls to return
People to contact
Note cards to send
Important actions to take
By taking the time to dump these new thoughts onto paper, you are free to the opportunities to receiving new thoughts. Imagine how difficult it was to remember a particular thought? You might have lost it just to have it return 5 days to 2 months later. Now, imagine being able to capture that thought almost instantly? How much better do you feel? Can you now see the untapped potential and how much easier it would be to improve your strategic plan to your own personal life?
Everyone needs a brain dump. With information doubling and potentially tripling every year, not having one does not make sense.
